Trauma-Informed Counselling

Many people with burnout also have past emotional strain or prolonged stress responses — trauma-informed counselling can safely support both

Burnout is more than overwhelming stress. It often shows up as chronic exhaustion, lack of motivation, feeling emotionally flat despite rest, and a sense that nothing you try gives you energy back. Counselling provides a safe space to explore these experiences, understand what’s contributing to them, and develop practical strategies to support recovery, rebuild balance and strengthen your ability to pace yourself.

People experiencing burnout may also carry the effects of chronic stress or past emotional strain. A trauma-informed approach supports both helping you feel safe, regulated, and understood while we explore what contributes to your exhaustion and develop recovery strategies.

A Trauma-Informed, Non-Judgmental Approach

My work is trauma-informed, meaning that safety, choice, and respect are central to how we work together.

Sessions prioritise emotional and physical safety. You control the pace and depth of exploration at all times.

In our sessions:

  • You are never pressured to talk about anything before you’re ready

  • We focus on creating a sense of safety and stability first

  • You remain in control of the pace and direction of our work

  • Your experiences are met with understanding, not judgement

Counselling is not about reliving the past. It’s about helping your nervous system feel safer in the present and supporting you to move forward with greater confidence and ease.

How Trauma Counselling Can Help

Trauma-informed counselling can support you to:

  • Better understand how past experiences are affecting you now

  • Develop tools to manage overwhelm and emotional responses

  • Build resilience and emotional regulation

  • Reconnect with a sense of safety, control, and self-trust

  • Move forward without being defined by what has happened

We work collaboratively, focusing on what feels helpful and manageable for you.

My Experience Supporting Trauma & Distress

Alongside my counselling training, I have volunteered with Lifeline, supporting people through deeply vulnerable conversations, including those involving trauma, crisis, and suicidal distress.

This experience has strengthened my ability to remain calm, present, and compassionate in moments of intense emotion, while holding a safe and respectful space.

I also bring lived experience and resilience shaped by life’s challenges, allowing me to meet clients with empathy, understanding, and genuine care.

Who This Support Is For

Trauma-informed counselling may be helpful if you:

  • Have experienced trauma or difficult life events

  • Feel anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally disconnected

  • Want a non-clinical, person-centred approach

  • Need a space where you won’t be pushed, judged, or labelled

  • Are looking for practical, gentle support to move forward

You don’t need to have a diagnosis or know whether your experience “counts” as trauma. If something has had a lasting impact on you, it deserves care and attention.
